Western Australian Premier's Book Awards - Categories

Fiction ($7,500)  For a work of fiction (which may be a novel or a collection of stories). (Anthologies of stories by different authors are not eligible). 

Poetry ($7,500)  For a book of poetry. Where the work contains both poetry and prose the predominant genre determines the category in which it should be entered. (Anthologies of poetry by different authors are not eligible). 

Non-Fiction ($7,500)  For a work of non-fiction which may include biography, autobiography, history, natural history, literary criticism,and other works of social, political or topical interest. 

Children's Books ($7,500)  For a work of prose and/or poetry written for children. In the case of a book containing original illustrations the judging panel may determine that the awards be shared by the writer and the illustrator. 

Young Adults Award ($7,500)  For a work of prose and/or poetry written for young adults.   

Scripts ($7,500)  For a script written for theatre, radio, film or television. 

Western Australian History Award ($7,500)  For a significant historical work that makes a major contribution to the understanding of Western Australia's past. (Note: You do not need to enter this category. The winner will be selected by the judges from all entries in the 2007 Awards). 

Premier's Prize ($20,000)  Awarded for a work which has been selected as a winner in one of the seven categories.
