Queensland public records historical resource kit
A major collection of records issued by the Queensland State Archives consisting of three parts:
Part 1 - Immigration records 1848-1923
Part 2 - State electoral rolls 1860-1900
Part 3 - Naturalisation records 1851-1905

Archives and Libraries

Queensland State Archives
The Queensland State Archives website has information on their collections, brief guides on a number of family history topics and online indexes to inquests, wills, mining leases and more.

National Archives of Australia - Brisbane reading room
The National Archives houses Commonwealth government records such as military, immigration and naturalisation papers. Records date from Federation in 1901 although, for some government departments, earlier material dating back to the mid-1850s is held. Over 18 million records have been digitised and are searchable by selecting RecordSearch from their home page. Other material can be viewed in their State and Territory Reading rooms.

State Library of Queensland
The State Library of Queensland website includes some family history info guides. It also has the following database with details of over 123,000 convicts transported to Australia in the 18th and 19th centuries:

• Convict Transportation Registers Database
  Details given include name, sentence, ship, date of departure and place of arrival. Information is taken from the British Home Office records and the database refers you to the relevant Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) microfilm reel number.

There are two family history societies in Queensland:
Genealogical Society of Queensland Inc.
Queensland Family History Society Inc.
