Premier’s Book Awards 2024 Industry Survey

The Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards is an annual writing prize delivered by the State Library of Western Australian on behalf of the Western Australian Government. 

It has a long and proud history of recognising and celebrating Western Australian talent.  

In 2024, the State Library is conducting a review of the Premier’s Book Awards.  

The intention of the review is to continually improve the awards to ensure they best promote and support the WA writing sector through developing and recognising excellence.   

The survey is open to anyone with an interest in the WA writing industry: writers, illustrators, publishers, editors, reviewers, booksellers, library workers, academics, current or former entrants or judges, and readers.

The State Library periodically reviews the Premier’s Book Awards to ensure they are in line with other state and national writing awards and meeting the expectations of the Western Australian writing community. 

The review considers all aspects of the delivery of the awards including categories and prizes, eligibility criteria, sponsorship, and entry and judging processes

The survey is open to anyone with an interest in the WA writing industry: writers, illustrators, publishers, editors, reviewers, booksellers, library workers, academics, current or former entrants or judges, and readers.  

The outcomes of the review are expected to be available in late 2024.
