Public libraries can assist seniors (people aged 60 and over) with information on health issues, grandparenting, retirement and much more. Many public libraries offer seniors a range of services such as access to computers and photocopiers.

A Guide to Services for Older People in Western Australia
This publication contains information for seniors on such things as home support services, health and welfare services and accommodation. Copies are available from the producers, West Australian Council on the Ageing. Tel: 08 9321 2133.
Seniors Card Discount Directory
A recreation and leisure directory that helps you find out where discounts are available for seniors throughout Western Australia, from accommodation for holidays to travel agents. Copies are freely available from the Office For Seniors Interests and Volunteering.
Newspapers
Senior Post
A newspaper for the mature aged published monthly by the Australian Pensioners' League of Western Australia. It contains a variety of news articles of interest to seniors in Western Australia and news of seniors' organisations. Also listed are social events, lifestyle articles and advertising features on health, travel and housing.
Have a Go News
A bimonthly newspaper aimed at the over 45's by the West Australian Department of Sport and Recreation and the Seniors Recreation Council of Western Australia. Contains general news articles on "what's on" for seniors and news from different seniors clubs. There are feature articles on health, travel and leisure activities. Also listed is a range of competitions and give aways for seniors.

University of the Third Age
University of the Third Age encourages people of mature age to re-enter a learning situation by sharing their knowledge and expertise.
University of Western Australia Extension Service
The University of Western Australia Extension Service offers a range of community courses many of which would interest seniors. Seniors can use their seniors card to obtain a discount on courses.

Western Australian Council on the Ageing
The Council's Mission is to protect and promote the well-being of all older people in Western Australia. To this end it aims to mobilise older people, those who work with them, Government, and the community towards achieving well-being and social justice for older people. The Council on the Ageing offers a site for consultation on the needs and services for the ageing.
Infolink: Government and Community Information
The State Library's Infolink database lists a number of community groups in Western Australia for seniors or of interest to seniors. These community groups are involved in health, entertainment, travel, sport, aged care, fitness, etc.

Home and Community Care Services in WA
The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program provides funding for services which support older people and people with a physical disability. Services include home help, food services, home nursing, personal care, home maintenance, transport, respite and day care and program support. The site also gives contact details and provides useful information for both carers and consumers.
Office For Seniors Interests and Volunteering
The Office For Seniors Interests and Volunteering is a West Australian state government agency responsible for seniors and volunteers. It is a specialist policy, research and communications agency whose mission is to enhance the lifestyles of seniors by promoting positive ageing and encouraging the community to plan for its ageing population. This web site has links to other relevant sites for seniors.
National Strategy for an Ageing Australia
A Commonwealth Government policy response to the 1999 International Year of Older Persons. This site provides information on the Strategy's terms of reference: independence and self provision, world class care, attitude, lifestyle, community support and healthy ageing; and publications and key themes.
