Group Settlement

During the 1920s Western Australia was boosted with large scale assisted immigration from the United Kingdom. In the context of Australia's racist obsession with maintaining a White Australia, these programs were seen as a way of strengthening a British cultural identity and opening up valuable farm lands throughout the State's wheatbelt and South-West. The settlers were organised into groups consisting of between twelve and fourteen families.
