The State Library welcomes everyone! We offer a range of tours and interactive programs designed to help you explore the building and our collections.

All tours and programs are free.

Maps, music, microfilm and more – Discover more than just books @ Your State Library

  • When: Tuesdays 12.30pm (weekly)
  • Where:  Discovery Lounge, Ground floor

This free guided tour of the Library will introduce you to our unique collections, including the J S Battye Library of West Australian History and take you behind the scenes. Tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Bookings not required (except for groups).

From Daguerreotype to WWW: A Behind the Scenes Tour

Are you curious to see how the State Library is digitising its photographic collections?
This 45 minute behind the scenes tour will show you the fascinating work being undertaken to make Western Australia's unique documentary heritage accessible via the internet. You will also have the chance to view extremely rare photographic items from the collections.  Bookings essential: 9427 3111

Free general public tours for groups can be arranged by request.

Tours are available between 9.30am to 4.00pm and must be booked a minimum of two weeks in advance.
