[Bayswater, W.A.] : Western Australian Genealogical Society, c2008. [929.3941 PAS]

Produced by the Swan River Pioneers 1829-1838 Special Interest Group of the Western Australian Genealogical Society Inc, this CD-ROM index contains the details of c.4,359 immigrants arriving to Fremantle and Albany with c.1,300 departure dates.

Arr/Frem, 1829-90 (Battye) [microform].
Perth : Library and Information Service of Western Australia, 1990? [929.3941 ARR]

All passenger lists, whether official or newspaper, were systematically indexed for 1829-1890. However, not everyone who came to the colony in this period appeared on a passenger list. Many passenger lists do not name steerage passengers. Others who were often not included were the Pensioner Guards, military personnel, deserters, and ship's crews. At the beginning of the index there is a list of arrivals at Albany 1826-1827. Each card provides the following information about each passenger: name of ship arrived upon, date of arrival and references to the ship's arrival. Sometimes references to the person's leaving the colony and returning are given. The index is on microfiche.

Passenger arrivals in Western Australia, 1921-1950 [electronic resource].
The National Archives of Australia website allows access to over 6,000,000 records created by 9,000 government agencies since 1901. Through a Work for the Dole project, passenger arrivals to Fremantle from overseas 1 January 1921-15 January 1950 and planes arriving at Perth Airport 1944-15 January 1950 have been indexed. Further indexing may be carried out to extend the range of the index before 1921 and beyond 1950.

Over 879,000 names are included in this index. Passengers who passed through Fremantle on their way to the Eastern States are also indexed. In regard to plane arrivals, the lists for Qantas flights include brief details of those en-route to another airport, but lists for other airlines only have details of those leaving the aircraft in Perth.

To carry out a search, simply access the National Archives of Australia website, click on collection and then record search. At this stage you need to log in and you can either register as a user or log in as a guest user. The first screen you enter once logged in is a general search and you can use this to search the entire collection for any information about people eg immigration records or military service records. On this screen you will also find links to a name search (which lets you search more easily for records about individuals as it can search particular groups of records rather than the whole collection), photosearch (over 110,000 digitised images) and passenger index (which is the one to use to find details of ship arrived upon, destination, date of arrival, etc.).
