Stevenson, Kinder & Scott Corporate Photography collection

This week, Dr Kate talks about the Stevenson, Kinder & Scott Corporate Photography collection – a collection of over 25,000 corporate and advertising images, ranging from 1965 – 2008. Recently, the State Library developed the online exhibition Staged to Sell: iconic advertising from the Stevenson, Kinder & Scott photographic collection, which showcases some well-known WA brands and the stories of how they have been staged and sold to Western Australians.

Today, Kate focused on the story of Laurie Potter’s Health Clubs, which will be recognisable to many Western Australians. This iconic brand was a household name, offering modern health and fitness, elevated with everyday opulence. The Health Clubs were built on the wave of fitness culture that came to Australia in the 1970s, but crashed with turning financial tides of the late 1980s.
